I love lambing season. It is exciting, busy, and ridiculously wonderful. There is nothing to compare with new life, and little lambs are no exception. These last few weeks have seen the addition of several super cute babies here at Daffodil Acres that we and their sweet mommies happen to be rather proud of. This year is one we will certainly remember as different. The area was rocked with heavy rain and winds and scattered tornadoes that made a real mess and wreaked terrible havoc. The first of our brand new lambs spent time in the barn with their mommies hiding as best they could from the crazy weather and still got wet. Now the field is full of happy sounds: tiny little bleats and the soft calls of attentive mommies. I love to watch the little ones run and jump and play follow the leader and king of the hill. I love to watch them chase the chickens just for fun. I love to see their tails wagging when they run back to mom for a quick snack. Every time new ones are born it feels like Christmas morning. They won't be this small for long. Pretty soon they will be too big to hold and carry. I'm soaking up every minute of lamb love I can right now. I love lambing season.
