There is nothing quite like good friends and neighbors.  I am blessed beyond measure to have this sweet couple close by.  Meet local flower farmers John and Vickie Cooper.
Nestled in the heart of rural South Georgia lies a beautiful and colorful garden.  Twin Creek Flowers is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.  Vickie tells me, "I always knew that one day I wanted to have a flower farm."  Vickie and her husband John moved up from Florida just 3 years ago, and after building a home, settled into working the soil together.  John can be found up on his tractor mowing, tilling the earth, or moving dirt and compost for the gardens that he too loves.  He has put up two greenhouses, where the couple starts not only flowers from seeds, but vegetables for their homestead garden.  Their table boasts cucumbers and green beans and kale, among other things.

Vickie tells me that this is the first year they have started selling their flowers.  She sells to area florists and is also available for taking orders for events.  Her blooms are simply breathtaking.

Does this bouquet not look like a charming vintage country wedding to you? Included here are sunflowers, zinnias, snapdragons, and lisianthus.
The types of flowers John and Vickie grow are both varied and seasonal.

I really should have asked the cat to sit next to this bucket of snapdragons so you could see just how huge and tall these blooms are. This picture was taken in early May.

Yarrow. I love the varied shades of soft cream to pink.

Mr. Hobbes strolling past the buckets of "leftovers" as Vickie called them. Quite the pretty leftovers if you ask me! Look closely and you will see delphinium, pincushion, and snapdragons.

This wild looking stunner is a relative of Queen Anne's Lace.
Both John and Vickie have an artistic eye, and it shows.  I am drawn to the stunning pieces of pottery they have made and painted and fired themselves.  I love hearing the stories they tell as I sit with a tall cold drink and play with their two cats, Caleb and Mr. Hobbes.

Caleb is in the foreground here.

Vickie made this piece. Isn't it amazing?! The colorful eggs are from their flock of backyard hens.
I do hope you have enjoyed getting to know John and Vickie as much as I have.  And remember to support your local farmers!  Keep Twin Creek Flowers in mind the next time you want some gorgeous seasonal blooms that are sure to wow!

I'm Debbie. I love listening to chickens cackle and sing. I love Lindt chocolate truffles, a good cup of coffee, and a good book.
